ColourMate is an accessibility app for colour-blind users who struggle with colour-coded tasks in daily life. Unlike existing colour-blind modes or costly glasses that are inaccurate or limited, ColourMate uses AI to identify and label colours on screens and in real life, detect food freshness, and explain colour meanings through a clear, customisable interface

What is the issue?

Colourblindness is caused
by a malfunctioning colour sensor in a person’s eye. Different types of colourblindness cause confusion with different colours.

More than 3 million people in the UK have Colour Vision Deficiency, also known as colour blindness. (Colour blind Awareness, 2024).

According to Scope.org (2024), 66% gamers with CVD, or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)claim that they have encountered barriers in video games.

The app delivers an efficient, accessible UI with customizable labels, clear typography, and high-contrast black-and-white design. The desktop version and promotional website follow the same visual system, enhanced with features like a slider and keyboard shortcuts.
